About

If your keen detection skills have not led you to the conclusion, my name is Jason Keller and I have never been able to get my mitts on that slippery little question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”  It feels like my interests are so widespread that I could not explore them all in a thousand cliché lifetimes (my mother always said I was afraid I would miss something).  I suppose in some ways she is right.  From veganism to extreme conservatism to interior design and mixed martial arts, I often feel like a walking contradiction.  If you didn’t know better I could be accused of having a multiple personality disorder.  I assure you, it is all me.  Just a mixed up mess.  I like to blame it on being left handed in a right handed world.  You just can’t get comfortable because everyone expects you to do things backwards.  If you’ll pardon my digression, I will get back to the matter at hand.

For years now I’ve had this overwhelming desire to go every where and do everything, with the exception of sitting on my ass watching television or working a 9 to 5.  Now when I say “go” everywhere, I mean live everywhere.  It’s the cultures that attract me.  It is impossible to experience the fullness of a culture in a one or two week vacation…so the only option is to move.  The only problem is that I’m not getting any younger.  It would easily take me the rest of my life to live in each country on my list for a year at a time.  To the dismay of my lovely wife, I have generally the same attitude towards employment.  It’s been said before and I’ll continue to say so, ‘there is not any job that I would like to slave away at so I have money to buy things that I don’t need.’  Even if you love your work, its still work.  There are however, many many things that I would love to do for a season.  The short list includes:  Architect, Spy, Professional Fighter, Touring Musician, and Writer.  No problem right?  Well, it turns out its a little trickier than it seems.  I do have hope though.  It is the latter of the short list that affords me the opportunity to explore all of these things and more.  As I run around the world like “the man without a country,” (or a job) I will report back here, keeping you all up to date and imparting any wisdom I gather along the way.  This, of course, is if my my wife doesn’t kill me first.
